The Service Medal of the Order of St John is awarded to those that have provided a requisite number of years service to the Order of St. John. The award was announced in the St John Ambulance Brigade General Regulations for 1895. The medal is typically awarded to recognise service of appropriate duration. In the United Kingdom, Australia, Canada, New Zealand and South Africa this medal is awarded for 12 years of service to the Order of St. John.
The hard enamel pin badge makes for a hygienic replacement to the traditional medal ribbon, as it is easy to keep clean for those who serve in the St John Ambulance Brigade.
I get asked on numerous occasions about additional attachments for the St John Service Enamel Medal Ribbon. Most lads and lass’s usually remove the respective item/s from their cloth ribbons and attach it/them to their new enamel medal ribbon.
